Up Up & Away Mix

I'm not posting an "End of the Weak" mix this week because I really wasn't on my computer to find any new music or obsessions. I did, however, spend a couple hours (at least 5 or 6) compiling, researching, and finding songs to fit into a theme for "flight", "airplanes", and "distance".

The mix is very laid back... 90's inspired but with a modern flair. It's not as pop or dance inspired as my other mixes usually are. I wouldn't use the word "indie" to describe it at all, but it does have a sort of stripped feeling to it with a hint of fun, upbeat sounding songs. It's a cohesive mix that fuses together 90's "rock" with modern hip hop and a hint of j-pop. Just bare with me...

*NEW LEAK* New Britney Demo -- Dramatic

The beginning intro starts off sounding like an interlude on one of Ayumi Hamasaki's newish albums (I'm thinking something like Mirrorcle World or something). It's a nice treat for Britney fans. It's just a demo nothing serious or single worthy. It sure makes me happy tho. It reminds me of when all the demo leaks leaked before "Blackout"!!!

As I'm pretty sure you all know... it's not entirely NEW. Just new to us. It first leaked in '08 except as a "duet" w/ Heidi Montag. Heidi bought the demo and instead of actually rerecording it... she kept Britney's vocals in place and recorded herself to pass it off as a duet. ANYWAY... so here it is: untagged and in pretty damn good quality. Thanks to britneyboards and whoever else was able to pass it on.

DIPLO REMIX

I decided to upload an artist compilation this week instead of a micromix of the stuff I've been listening to in the past week.

I had a lot of ideas... I was originally going for a 'featured Justin Timberlake' mix of songs with other people's songs that feature Justin. Later I scrapped the idea and decided on a Diplo remix mix.

In case you have not heard of him... Diplo is a Philly based DJ, producer, songwriter who has worked with a wide variety of artists from M.I.A. to Spank Rock to Amanda Blank to making remixes for Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Hot Chip, Bloc Party, etc. Currently he's promoting and touring for his collabortive music act with producer Switch: Major Lazer. He really doesn't have a specific genre and does things based off of what inspires him lately.

He's a really funny and knowledgeable guy. His twitter is probably one of my favorites to read. Besides from his ruggedly, beautiful, aryan looks, Diplo is a very interesting person to follow. I'm a pretty big fan of his recent electric and dubstep inspired stuff. I'm not a big fan of the baile funke stuff he was doing for a while. I like the current direction he's going musically.

With all that said... I decided to make a mix compilation of some of Diplo's remixes for download. I even fucked around on photoshop to make a quick fake album cover for the mix.

Hope you all enjoy it and I hope you all give Diplo some props via twitter.

if vegans knew anything... they wouldn't be called vegans.

What's beef.... literally. I can't even look up recipes on the internet without coming across some hipster's lame ass blog with vegan recipes and vegan ingredients. What makes me laugh the absolute most is how badly they are disgusted by meat and/or animal by products but love to use soy cheese and tofu sausages and wear pleather and stuff.

It really amazes me how badly vegans and vegetarians go out of their way to not use anything in their cooking or lifestyles associated with meat but sure as hell love to dress their salads and entrees with meat substitutes and whatnot. Call me crazy but give anyone a tofu burger and an angus burger and 10 times out of 10 they will choose the angus meat. The vegan mind just perplexes me on so many levels.

I'd also like to add that animals do not have rights. Only in America can animals have more rights than the people that inhabit it. When was the last time an animal actually did anything nice for you? and no i don't mean your lame dog fetching your sunday paper.

"Going Vegan" is the new "Hey mom... I'm bisexual~*"... Do something original instead of bastardizing the food industry with "haute vegan cuisine". There is NOTHING that compares to the luscious sweetness of lobster or the buttery delicateness of foie gras... so while vegans are eating their lentils and dusty mung beans; I'll be dining on perfectly pan-seared scallops with a decadent beurre blanc sauce.

'End of the Weak' Mix #3

Week 3 of the "End of the Weak" mix... I just wanna say that this blog is NOT a music blog dedicated to leaked tracks or albums; I'm merely just posting music I'm listening to recently. I am not dedicating my time and energy into updating this blog constantly with music I find online. I want this blog to reflect who I am personally and music is a big part of my life so it's only natural for some of my updates to revolve around music. These "EotW" mixes are just songs that I have been playing on repeat for the week. Some may be new releases/new leaks and others may be year or two old songs that I've been having on rotation.

M.I.A. on Lady GaGa

I don’t know. Again, there's Lady Gaga - people say we’re similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same! None of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music, you know? She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I fucking do! That’s a talent and she’s got a great team behind her, but she’s the industry last’s stab at making itself important - saying, ‘You need our money behind you, the endorsements, the stadiums’ Respect to her, she’s keeping a hundred thousand people in work, but my belief is: Do It Yourself.
