Kylie Minogue - "Aphrodite" megamix rating & "review"

Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite Megamix

"Get Outta My Way"
0:00 - 1:40 | Produced by Cutfather, Peter Wallevik & Daniel Davidsen;Co-produced by Damon Sharpe, Lucas Secon & Stuart Price

I don't really recall anything Cutfather has done. I just know he's worked with Kylie before. Stuart is a fuckin' god. I am SO excited for him to be working with "Aphrodite". Anyway this track is fuckin' KILLER. Apparently, the story goes, the writer of the song had demoed it and sent it to labels and it actually had 5 contenders for the song. Jive apparently wanted the song for queen Britney Spears and was ready to pay for it but the writer opted out after receiving word from Kylie, who upon hearing the demo said that she had found the number to close her next tour with instead of "Love At First Sight". So ultimately, Kylie won and was given the song. I'm glad Kylie got it but I'm sure Britney could've worked it out.

Anyway, the song is spectacular. I'm probably gonna have this song on repeat when I get the album. It's just full of life and is just so danceable. What else would anyone expect from a Kylie song?

5/5
"Cupid Boy"
1:41 - 3:19 | Produced & mixed by Stuart Price & Sebastian Ingrosso & Magnus

This song is written and produced by Sebastion Ingrosso. In case you haven't heard from Ingrosso before, he is a Swedish DJ who has worked with numerous people from producing "Right Hand Hi" with Kid Sister to remixing Justin Timberlake & Miike Snow. Ingrosso is one of my new favourite dj/producers/remixers. I adore him and I'm super excited for this track when I first heard Ingrosso and Kylie were working together.

The track is seductively sweet with a BEAUTIFUL build up towards the chorus. DANCEFLOOR KILLER.

5/5
"Can't Beat The Feeling"
3:20 - 4:39 | Produced by Stuart Price, Pascal Gabriel & Borge Fjordheim.

This is a regular Kylie song. It's what i like to think of as "dancefloor FILLER". It's fun to dance to but not necessarily something I'd like to request at a club. It's nice tho. It's cheesy dance pop... and I like that.

3/5
"Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Me)"
4:40 - 7:35 | Produced by Starsmith. Co-produced by Stuart Price.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS TRACK. I'm not totally familiar with Starsmith. I know he has done a few mixes for Timbo, Gaga, & Katy Perry. I hope the album has more tracks like this.

5/5
"Aphrodite"
7:36 - 9:36 | Written & produced by Nerina Pallot & Andy Chatterley

Title track of the album. It's a nice song. It's like cotton candy dance floor pop. The snare is crazy hypnotic. I'm a sucker for snare drums. Love it.

I am crazy excited for "Aphrodite". Kylie is a damn goddess. I really hope the album is just pure dance pop with minimal ballads as possible. I swear, pop artists really need to embrace that mentality that an album should have a concept and not a record with 1 hit single, 3 mediocre singles, and a bunch of filler. That is what Britney did with "Blackout". It was a cohesive dance album from beginning to end (if you stop before the K-Fed song at the end). That is what Kylie needs. I love Kylie's other albums but they are always full of filler. I'm ready for something to straight dance too!
